If you are a Georgia resident enrolling in a degree program at an eligible Georgia public or private college, university, or public technical college, you may be eligible for the HOPE Scholarship. Recipients have graduated from an eligible high school with a "B" average, as defined by the HOPE program, or have earned at least a 3.0 grade point average at the college level at specific credit-hour checkpoints. Students who earned a GED or graduated from an ineligible high school or home study program may qualify for a HOPE Scholarship, as an entering freshman, based on their SAT or ACT scores. Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at an eligible public or private college or university or technical college in Georgia. Meet HOPE's Georgia residency requirements. The scholarships are awarded competitively. Candidates for scholarships typically have a minimum of a 3.75 GPA and 28 ACT/1240 SAT. The strongest candidates routinely exceed listed minimums while demonstrating a clear commitment to an advanced curriculum, achievement/distinction in many other areas, and superior writing skills. Miami has a limited number of special scholarships which are automatically awarded to students who meet the award criteria. For the remainder of our general scholarships, all students who apply for admission by January 31 and are admitted to Miami University are considered for the many general scholarships we award to incoming freshmen; no separate application is required. Most scholarship recipients have scored 30 or better on the ACT (1320 on the SAT I - CR & M) and rank in the top 10% of their graduating class.
To help simplify your admission process, Miami University does not require a separate application for our general freshmen scholarships. Students who wish to apply for the Harrison Scholarship must apply for admission and also submit the Harrison Scholarship application by November 3.

Selection of scholars is made on the basis of merit in the areas of academic achievement, artistic talent (when applicable), leadership and community service. We also encourage all applicants seeking scholarship consideration to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Scholarship applicants should write a one- to two-page essay on a predetermined topic. Submit the essay along with the Application for Undergraduate Admission to be considered for a scholarship; VCU requires no other scholarship application, with the exception of the Sica Scholarship [PDF], which requires additional application materials. In addition to these scholarships, individual schools and departments at VCU offer scholarships to incoming freshmen. Contact the VCU school to which you are applying or into which you have been admitted for more specific scholarship application information. Scholarship aid is available for each of VCU’s intercollegiate athletic teams. If you’re interested in obtaining information about athletic scholarships, you should write to the athletic department or have your current coach contact VCU on your behalf. |
